Meet the Director

Originally from Germany, Mrs Heike Jordan-Busch was a teacher at a private school in Marl before opening her own early education and care service, Hippo’s Friends, in Botany in 1995.

As the original founder and Approved Provider of the service, she has led the centre with dedication, vision and a strong commitment to high-quality early education and care.

Mrs Jordan-Busch’s philosophy is strongly grounded in integrity, balance and the rigorous pursuit of excellence. She has an ambitious vision for building on these strengths and values to create a strong foundation for the future.

Mrs Jordan-Busch holds a Master of Education from the University of Essen and has Proficient Teacher Accreditation with the NSW Education Standards Authority. She is also the Educational Leader of the service.

Her career at Hippo’s Friends has been built on a firm belief in the value of a balanced and expansive education that enables children not only to discover and develop their own talents, but also to appreciate the gifts of others and embrace the value of service.

Mrs Jordan-Busch is married and the mother of four children.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which our children learn, play and grow, and pay our respects to Elders past and present. We honour the ongoing connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have to Country, culture and community.

As an early learning community, we are committed to nurturing respect, understanding and belonging, and to teaching children to care for the land and for one another.

We recognise that sovereignty was and always will be Aboriginal.
